The annual RIC-RIT World Remanufacturing Conference, held in Rochester, NY this year, is the only reman event bringing together leaders from all sectors of the reman industry for an intensive, highly collaborative exploration of best practices, emerging trends, and issues of critical importance to our industry. The event provides an unparalleled platform for remanufacturing professionals to network and learn the latest information in the practical application of advanced remanufacturing strategies and methodologies.
Hosted by Dr. Nabil Nasr at the Rochester Institute of Technology (RIT) and the Remanufacturing Industries Council (RIC) of which the International Imaging Technology Council is an association member, the World Remanufacturing Conference brings the brightest and latest ideas in remanufacturing to industry members. The remanufacturing industries came together this week in Rochester, N.Y. at the RIC-RIT World Remanufacturing Conference. The conference was in person for the first time since the pandemic, and the presenters — and turnout– demonstrate that remanufacturing is now a thriving, expanding mode of manufacturing.
From cartridges to farming equipment and everything in between, remanufactured products are embraced by businesses and consumers. Once they added remanufacturing into their product mix, Caterpillar, John Deere, GE Healthcare, Michelin, Trane, BorgWarner and a host of other super companies found a lucrative and environmentally-rewarding business channel. These companies started sharing their success stories today at the first of this two-day event.
Office furniture remanufacturing, for example, is led by Davies Office, a New York-based company founded by Bill Davies. The office furniture industry is a $124.9 billion industry. However, 81 percent of office furniture ends up in a landfill. Davies Office has successfully diverted 138,000 pounds of furniture from landfills. Bill Davies has been at the forefront of the remanufacturing movement, and was deservedly awarded tonight’s Distinguished Service Award for decades of service to remanufacturing. He received it from Chairman Jeffrey Stukenborg and Dr. Nasr.
At the end of night one of the conference Davies VP and Co-Founder, Bill Davies, who has been at the forefront of the remanufacturing and sustainability movement for decades, was honored to receive the RIC Distinguished Service Award last night. This award recognizes one deserving individual for their #outstanding contributions in serving the #remanufacturing industry. This award was presented by Chairman Jeffrey Stukenborg and Dr. Nasr.
