Davies is incredibly proud to be hosting our Fourth Annual Reman Day Event!
What is Global Remanufacturing (Reman) Day? #RemanDay is an opportunity to celebrate the economic and environmental benefits of remanufacturing, create a public awareness for remanufacturing and advance the remanufacturing industry through hosted events and workforce development initiatives. Our wonderful staff had lots of fun taking pictures in the photo booths around the production area and warehouse. Doug Pilgrim, our National Business Development Manager, did a fantastic job of presenting (not once, but twice!) the Davies philosophy and case studies, and how we’ve accommodated clients requests through use of remanufactured furniture.
In case you missed it, here were the main points of importance to highlight throughout the day: Doug provided a little background of how the office furniture industry morphed throughout the decades. Davies has stood apart from other leading office furniture vendors by how they’ve contributed positively to the environment by remanufacturing office product instead of sending product to the landfills, which equates to about 9.7 million tons of office furniture and furnishings saved yearly. Furniture, just like many products, is fashion; it’s always about what’s new and in demand. The evolving trends in workstations makes it easy to incorporate the remanufacturing approach. Instead of businesses just throwing away the products they no longer have use for, Davies has the resources to cut down and remodel the existing product. If Davies did not provide a sustainable option, that would yield up to $120,000,000 worth of furniture that would now be obsolete because it was incapable of transformation. Not only is that an economic waste, but also an environmental waste.
Programs like our Sustainable Product Exchange encourage strong working relationships because we provide a full circle operation for our clients: take back their old, unwanted product, provide new or better than new remanufactured furniture, and a complete final installation. Remanufacturing allows Davies to incorporate flexible brand conversions with multiple product lines to give customers a truly customized workplace solution. Davies is proud to be the only furniture remanufacturer to have earned the BIFMA Level furniture sustainability standard certification for commercial furniture amongst these 9 product lines: Steelcase 9000, Steelcase Avenir, Steelcase Answer, Herman Miller Ethospace, Herman Miller AO2, Haworth Places, Haworth Unigroup, Haworth Premise, and Knoll Morrison. Doug teaches continuing education courses covering a wide range of subjects and his exact presentation given on Reman day can be found online at www.aecdaily.com.
A huge thank you to all participants who made this day happen. Here’s to another great year and plenty more successful Reman Days to come!
